RIO and CTS Visit with US Department of Transportation Leaders

On November 1, members of the Research and Innovation Office (RIO) and the Center for Transportation Studies (CTS) hosted Dr. Robert C. Hampshire, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary and Chief Science Officer for Research and Technology at the US Department of Transportation, for a campus visit. The visit provided an opportunity to discuss the University of Minnesota’s cutting-edge transportation research and explore potential collaboration.

Dr. Hampshire met with the Vice President for Research and Innovation, Shashank Priya, and visited numerous facilities including the Multi-Axial Subassemblage Testing Lab (MAST), the Center for Transportation Studies, MnCAV Ecosystem CAV Vehicle and Human Factors Safety Lab including the simulator space, and the Saint Anthony Falls Laboratory (SAFL).
