University of Minnesota Delegation Visits Kiel University

A delegation from the University of Minnesota visited Kiel University in Germany for a workshop on July 2-4. The members of the delegation were:

Sam Kelly (UMD, Professor of Physics and Astronomy)
Craig Hill (UMD, Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering)
Kimberly Kirkpatrick (RIO, Associate Vice President for Research Capacity Building)
Jim Wilgenbusch (Director, Research Computing)
Joel Tallaksen (Scientist, West Central Research and Outreach Center)
Christine Anderson (Interim Director and Academic Director, Learning Abroad Center)

The workshop covered several topics of potential research collaborations and opportunities for student exchange and joint education programs in areas including Maritime Engineering and Marine Science, Precision Agriculture and Nutrition, Biosensing, and Data Science/ Artificial Intelligence. The workshop included formal presentations, tours of research facilities at Kiel University and GeoMar, and discussions of joint educational program developments.
