Debra Dykhuis, executive director of the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP), has announced her plans to retire on July 6, 2026 after 41 years of service to the University.
Debbie joined the HRPP Office in 2012 following an extensive career dedicated to supporting researchers in developing and managing clinical trials. Her tenure has been defined by significant growth and transformation, including the successful launch of ETHOS (the University's web-based platform for IRB submissions), the implementation of the IRB/HRPP Toolkit, and the expansion of reliance and single IRB review agreements. Under her leadership, the University’s HRPP has maintained full AAHRPP accreditation with distinction.
Debbie’s unwavering commitment to protecting and respecting the rights, safety, and experiences of research participants has been a cornerstone of her career. We will miss her leadership, wisdom, and guidance. Please join us in wishing her the very best as she begins this well-deserved new chapter.
