The go-live date for the University of Minnesota’s new Animal Research Care Hub (ARCH) has been officially scheduled for Wednesday, September 30. Please see the following guidance regarding animal ordering and census considerations as you and your research teams prepare for the transition to ARCH.
Critical Ordering Adjustments
- As a reminder, we will not accept animal deliveries the week of September 7, due to the short holiday week. For animals required the week of September 14, please submit orders by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1.
- To ensure arrivals for the week of September 21, submit all orders following the normal deadline of 4:30 p.m. on Monday, September 14.
- We will not place any animal orders or accept any animal deliveries the week of September 28, to accommodate our ARCH go-live.
- Please limit animal orders scheduled for delivery during the week of October 5. To ensure animal arrivals for the week of October 5, please submit all orders by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22.
In addition to ordering adjustments, please account for the following census-related considerations during the go-live period.
Census Considerations
- Limit cage card activity: Minimize the number of cage cards activated or terminated during the week of September 28 to ensure census accuracy.
- Avoid experimental end dates: Refrain from planning experimental end dates during the week of September 28 to simplify per diem tracking.
- Minimize animal movement: Keep the movement of animals between cages or between rooms to a minimum to maintain data integrity during the ARCH transition; animal transfers between buildings will be paused the week of September 28.
