Nearly $3 Million Awarded to Support UMN Research Infrastructure

The Research and Innovation Office has awarded funds for eight projects for its 2026 Research Infrastructure Investment Program. One-to-one matching funds provided by supporting units resulted in just over $2.88 million in total funds awarded. The awards will improve research infrastructure, facilities, and support services across the University.

2026 Research Infrastructure Investment Program funds will support the following projects:

  • Stereotactic Neuronavigation to Advance Collaborative, Translational Veterinary Neurosurgical Techniques for Diagnostic 
  • Shared Large-Animal Neurophysiology Platform for BCI, Neuromodulation, and Precision Neurotherapeutics
  • LHI Cytation 9 Multi-Modal Instrument
  • Improving Research Access and Discharge Facilities on the Main Experimental Floor of St. Anthony Falls Laboratory
  • Establishing a Pathology-Empowered Spatialomics Coordination Center
  • HR 30 Discovery Hybrid Rheometer
  • Upgrade to NRRI's Plant Growth Research Facilities to Expand Capability
  • University Imaging Centers request for a Nikon Ji Spinning Disk Confocal with AI for High-Throughput Spatial Biology
