Please join us, Tuesday, June 2, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. for Strings Attached: Understanding the Implications of Research Funding Options, a seminar designed specifically for researchers in the College of Science and Engineering. This virtual event will provide an overview and guidance on research funding decisions and the potential impacts of various types of research agreements that are commonly seen at the University of Minnesota.

The seminar will also address how your choices in the research phase can impact the likelihood of:

  • Your innovations benefiting the public
  • Attracting investors for your innovations
  • Obtaining future research funding
  • Generating licensing revenue from your innovations

Topics will include: consortium funding (such as SRC), industry funding, common foundation funding requests, data-use agreements, open source software components, and other commonly seen funding items that impact CSE and informatics commercialization decisions.

The seminar will include a presentation, discussion, and a handout that summarizes and simplifies these agreements between the UMN and common CSE research sponsors and collaborating companies.
