Slow, Flexible, and Everywhere is inspired by terrestrial algae and lichen ways of being that nudge our human ideas of success. In response, UMN Artist-in-Residence Diane Willow and collaborating scientists Daniel Stanton, Beatriz Baselga Cervera, and Daniel Keefe are presenting this suite of improvised installations and participatory modes of art that are in active dialogue with science. We invite you to engage your senses, interact with tangible and intangible media, and join us in casual conversations as you continue to expand your biological, relational, and lived sense of lichen and algae, their time and scale on the planet.
