Stephen Streng
Research Development Strategy Lead
Stephen Streng leads the Strategy and Engagement Core of the Research Development Office (RDO). This team helps University researchers, centers, and other units achieve maximum impact by providing strategic planning and strategic intelligence services. The team also offers stakeholder engagement services that create effective growth plans and competitive funding proposals for multidisciplinary, multi-institutional, and large-scale research, development, and translation initiatives.
Prior to his current role, Stephen performed similar duties and led major proposal development efforts as a founding member of the Strategic Partnerships and Research Collaborative (SPARC), one of the precursors to the RDO. He also worked at the UMN Food Protection and Defense Institute (FPDI). While at FPDI, Stephen conducted research focused on cybersecurity risks within the food and agriculture sector. He continues to engage in UMN-wide efforts on securing research cyberinfrastructure, including serving as co-chair of the UMN Highly Restricted Data Standing Committee. Stephen is a past National Science Foundation Trusted CI Open Science Cybersecurity Fellow.
