Michael Oakes, Appointed Associate Vice President for Research

Prof. Michael Oakes of the School of Public Health (SPH) was appointed associate vice president for research. His OVPR portfolio will include regulatory and compliance responsibilities associated with the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP), IRB, and the Research Compliance Office (RCO). Michael will also be responsible for oversight of several academic centers and institutes, including the University Press, Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy, the Food Protection and Defense Institute (FPDI was reassigned to the College of Veterinary Medicine in December, 2019), and the Consortium on Law and Values in Health, Environment & the Life Sciences.
