Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Core Basic Training

Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR), also known as Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research (RECR), is a foundational ethics and integrity education requirement. Anyone partaking in research, regardless of job (e.g. PI, postdoc, graduate or undergraduate student, research staff, etc.) should complete RCR training.

RCR Core training is available through CITI RCR Core Training.

Completion of this training is required for release of federal awards for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation (NSF), and US Department of Agriculture - National Institute of Food and Agriculture (USDA-NIFA).

RCR Workshops through the Research & Innovation Office

The RIC Department sponsors in-person workshops designed to help researchers meet federal training requirements.

Fulfilling the NIH In-Person Requirement
If you hold or are funded through an NIH training and/or education award (F-, K-, or T-series, see full list on the NIH Training page), you must complete 8 hours of in-person training. By attending the three events listed below, you will satisfy this requirement.

Upon completion of RIC-verified RCR training workshops, completion records will be uploaded directly to your Training History Report.
