Resa Gilats provides professional staff support for the University's intellectual property management process, including the Intellectual Property Commitment Committee (IPCC). Resa coordinates communications between and amongst inventors, Technology Commercialization staff, and law firms regarding intellectual property filings. She is also responsible for tracking patent filing decisions and managing intellectual property-related data. She works with inventors to obtain signatures on various documents required in the intellectual property filing process. Resa is also responsible for driving a collaborative process to improve the patent management process at the University.
Resa has served in law-related administrative positions for over 24 years. She served as a courts operations analyst and a program analyst for the Minnesota State Court Administrator’s Office (SCAO) for nearly 10 years. Prior to that, Resa served as a management analyst for Colorado’s SCAO for two years. Before that, she served as the legal practicum administrator at William Mitchell College of Law.
Resa earned a B.A. in urban and regional studies from the University of Minnesota–Duluth, a J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law, and an M.S. in legal administration from the University of Denver. She has been with Technology Commercialization since August 2013.
