On January 14, Technology Commercialization hosted its first ever waffle breakfast for innovators who are new to the University of Minnesota in the past three years. Part of an effort to engage more with faculty early on in their careers, the event provided an opportunity for researchers to network with other new faculty and for Tech Comm staff to answer questions on a range of questions related to intellectual property and tech transfer. The event allowed for some constructive, in-depth discussions that will hopefully help guide faculty in making decisions that will enhance commercialization opportunities in the future.

Other upcoming faculty outreach events include:

  • partnering with the Digital Technology Center and MnDRIVE to provide CSE faculty an overview of topics that impact tech transfer options, including funding sources, data-use agreements, and software (mid-March)
  • an outreach "lunch and learn" series for faculty and graduate students in Vet Med (TBD)
  • researcher-focused activities related to World IP Day (April 26)
