U of M Ranks 20th in List of Top 100 Universities Granted US Patents

The University of Minnesota ranks 20th in the "Top 100 Worldwide Universities Granted U.S. Utility Patents," released today by the National Academy of Inventors and the Intellectual Property Owners Association.

With 89 patents granted in 2018, the U of M has consecutively moved up the listing each of the last four years from its rank of 50th in 2014. 

Technologies developed through U research, such as those that received patents in 2018, can improve the health, environment, and quality of life of people in Minnesota and beyond.
