UMN startups Carba and Xanthos Health were selected as 2023 MN Cup Division Winners! Both startups will be awarded $25,000 and have the opportunity to be selected as the 2023 Grand Prize Winner and receive another $50,000.

Xanthos Health, which connects cancer patients and their caregivers, social workers, and oncologists with social services while providing real-time identification of health barriers, won the Impact Ventures division. Carba, which removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and stores it permanently underground in the form of solid carbon, won the Energy, CleanTech & Water division.

This year’s MN Cup, a community-led startup competition that has supported Minnesota entrepreneurs for 19 years, saw the largest and most diverse number of applications in the competition’s history. Since 2005, MN Cup has given away $5 million in seed capital and taken no equity in exchange.

We wish both startups luck in the 2023 Grand Finale held on September 18 at the McNamara Alumni Center!
