The World’s Most Innovative Universities 2019

The U of M ranked 22nd on the annual Reuters list, which takes into account the number of patents filed, commercial impact, and more.

The University of Minnesota’s Venture Center announced in August 2019 that it had launched a record 19 startup companies over the previous year, 11 of which are based in Minnesota. Eight Venture Center-launched startups have been acquired or gone public since 2017. Elsewhere at the university, the College of Science and Engineering announced a three-year collaboration with retailer Target to educate students in computer security. Target will provide students with hands-on technical experience and fund scholarships, fellowships and grants.
