OVPR is excited to announce a new Artist-in-Residence program that brings together artists with scientists to spur creative thinking and innovation. The program will fund art faculty who are drawn to collaboration, interested in interdisciplinary artistic, scientific and technological dialogue, and open to developing new working methods and techniques to share scientific discoveries. Funding will support a creative interpretation of scientific research and discoveries at UMN.

Each award must create an artistic outcome (in-person, virtual, or hybrid experience) to be displayed or performed in the September - October 2024 timeframe. Projects can take myriad forms, such as multimedia performances, theatrical productions, animated film making, immersive installations, sculptures, or music. Diverse interpretations of art and science are welcomed.

The application opens August 14; proposals are due September 26. The award period begins January 1, 2024.
