RIO Announces 2024 Funding and Awards

RIO Funding & Awards

The Research and Innovation Office (RIO) has announced its funding and award programs for 2024, including the return of Artist-in-Residence and Social Justice Impact Grants, two relatively new programs.

RIO provides over $5.6 million in funding and awards annually to support and nurture the University of Minnesota’s systemwide research enterprise. The programs offer a broad range of resource opportunities, from smaller seed grants designed to jump-start new ideas to larger funding opportunities designed to incentivize collaborations across disciplines that address strategic needs.

2024 Highlights

RIO will offer the following funding and award programs in 2024:

In fall 2024, our 2023 Artist-in-Residence recipients will provide a public presentation of their collaborative research projects. Please keep an eye out for information about these exciting events later this year.

Visit RIO Funding and Awards for more detailed information about application deadlines, eligibility, and other requirements. RIO may add programs during the year, so stay tuned to our website for updates.

Review Committee Opportunity

Several of RIO's grant programs are reviewed by an existing committee of UMN peers. For other funding and award programs, RIO recruits reviewers with knowledge and expertise that aligns with the program. If you are interested in serving on a review committee in the future, please contact Strategic Initiatives Director Thierry Boudet, tboudet@umn.edu.
