Cities around the nation are grappling with the need to maintain and renovate the often-overlooked infrastructure that supports services like drinking water and sewage systems. In extreme situations improperly maintained systems can result in health hazards like those caused by the water quality crisis in Flint, Mich. In Minnesota, 5.5 million people depend on the state’s aging infrastructure, which will require maintenance and replacement over the next few decades to stay safe and reliable.

Every January, the University Data Center shuts down for a weekend for maintenance and upgrades. This year's maintenance period is January 8-10. So beginning this Friday afternoon, the following services may not be available until January 11.

ArcGIS Services - This includes the library maps, Solar Map, and many other services.
Maps.umn.edu - All maps hosted on this site will be unavailable.

 Starting in January 2016, the NSF will require that scientific publications and the digital data that generated the publication will be publically deposited. Initially, the DOE's PAGES system will serve as the repository for the publications. You may access the detailed plan on the National Science Foundation's website.
